The field notes

Two brewers.
Two morning rituals.

A moka pot builds its routine around the stove. An upright AeroPress brings together hot water, a steep and a gentle hand press. Our film follows both from preparation to cleanup, so you can notice which sequence of actions appeals to you.

  1. Set up the brewer

Assemble the pot or prepare the filter

For the moka pot, fill the base below the safety valve, add loose grounds to the basket and assemble before heating. For the AeroPress, fit the paper filter in the cap, attach it to the chamber and place the upright brewer on a sturdy mug.

  2. Follow the brewing routine

Stovetop heat or steeping and pressing

On the stove, heat drives water through the moka pot’s coffee. In the AeroPress, add coffee and hot water, stir and steep, then press gently. The plunger-driven pressure helps move the brew through the paper filter.

  3. Include the cleanup

    Let hot parts cool first

After serving, let the moka pot cool before opening and rinsing it. With the AeroPress, cool the filter cap before removing it, eject the grounds and paper filter into the bin, then rinse. Use your model’s care instructions for its complete cleaning routine.
